MEMBER MINISTRY SUPPORT TEAMS

(supporting and facilitating members’ ministries in their daily life)

 

WORSHIP SUPPORT TEAM

The Worship Support Team provides leadership in our developing an intentional relationship with God through worship and praise, in large and small services and in our individual daily lives. They plan, educate, motivate, and evaluate our congregational life in our upward journey of worship of the living God. They hold us accountable to our vision of learning to recognize and worship God in all aspects of our lives.

 

• Sunday Worship (10:55 A.M. in Church Sanctuary)

• Music Ministry (Sanctuary Choir rehearsal, Wednesdays, 7:35 P.M. Choir Room, Youth and Adults welcome, led by Mr. Garry Scutt)

• Lord’s Supper (typically every month, first Sunday during 11 AM Worship)

• Baptism (during Sunday Worship as needed for new Christians in conformity to our Bylaws)

• After Worship Fellowship (a member hosted social with finger-food and drink to greet and meet visitors, to get better acquainted with new folks and to deepen longstanding relationships.)

• Extended Care (a volunteer ministry to families with young children in the Children’s Wing during Sunday Worship)

• Sunday Morning Prayer (An open group of members engaged in intercessory prayer supporting members, UBC ministries and world crises, Sundays, 8:30 AM in the Conference Room)

 

DISCIPLESHIP SUPPORT TEAM

The Discipleship Support Team provides leadership to our becoming growing disciples of Jesus Christ and demonstrating His behaviors and attitudes in our lives. They lead us to develop a Christ likeness that holds us accountable to demonstrate in our lives the transforming effect of an intentional relationship with God. They plan, organize, train, motivate, and evaluate our congregational life in our inward journey of Christ likeness through such activities as Bible study, training opportunities, spiritual formation, caring for one another, and other appropriate events and challenges.

 

• Bible Study (Sunday School for all ages 9:30 AM)

Ruth Class (mature ladies taught by Frances Watkins)

Meadows Class (co-ed young adults taught by Dave Meadows)

Small Class (co-ed adults taught by Reverend Bobby Joe Small)

Puckett Class (co-ed adults taught by Paul Puckett)

Jones Class (mature men taught by Kyle Jones)

Special Education Class (co-ed mentally challenged adults)

Youth Class (middle and high school)

Children Class (first through 5 grade)

Preschool Class (classes for infants, toddlers and ages 2-3, 4-5)

• Adult Wednesday Discipleship Study (6:30-7:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall with rousing gospel singing and intercessory prayer)

• Adult Ladies Thursday Bible Study (Thursdays, 1:00-2:30 P.M.)

• New Member Sponsor Ministry (A ministry to new members to help new members become familiar with fellow members, facility and

ministries to encourage flit! discipleship for Christ in their daily lives.)

• CareGivers Group (A ministry to members who are chronically or temporarily isolated from community involvement and in need of help and/or attention.)

• Comfort Meals (A ministry to members following the funeral for a family member.)

Vacation Bible School (A summertime ministry of introducing and discipling local children to Christ.)

• Library (adjacent to the sanctuary near the Choir Room offering written materials for Christian discipleship)

 

MISSION SUPPORTTEAM

The Missions Support Team provides leadership for us to reach out to our community and our world to demonstrate the transforming effect of an intentional relationship to God. They plan, educate, motivate, conduct, and evaluate our outward journey through which we demonstrate Christ likeness to our community and world. Such an outward journey will include, but not be limited to, sharing the gospel with others and inviting them to join us on this exciting journey of fulfilling our Vision to minister to others in Jesus’ name, and to

promote the spread of the Gospel to all persons in all places.

 

AutonomousMission Activities (activities we do ourselves)

•Sandwich Making for the Homeless (Wednesdays 8:45 AM Fellowship

Hall)

Local Benevolence (distributed to area needy persons)

•PrimeTimers Senior Adult Ministry ( Tuesday,11 AM September —

December and February — July for adults in the localFairfax County

Adult Day Care Center near the church)

•Sunday Afternoon Basketball (after worship in the gymnasium)

•Game Day Ministry by and for Adults (table games in the Parlor to

forestall the onset of dementia)

•Good Grief Group (an Open group on Tuesdays at 1:30 PM for persons

recovering from losses of all kinds)

•Young-At-Heart-Gadabouts (an adult group that enjoys travel and

eating)

•Fairfax County Adult Day Care Bingo Group (staffing bingo every

Thursday except the first of each month,1:30 PM, at the Annandale

Adult Day Care Center to forestall participants dementia)
